LONG TAIL CONCEPT AND CUSTOMER IN CHARGE ENVIRONMENT

The Long Tail concept describes the niche strategy of businesses that sell a large number of unique items in general in small quantities. Every product according to the Long Tail Concept can be bought even if it is completely out-dated.
The customer in charge environment is the concept that defines the act when the customer chooses himself/herself the product he/She wants to find or to purchase by typing a needed product. The searching engine starts offering different sites with a large array of products, in such a way the client can choose what he/she exactly wants.
Analyzing the two definitions, I can say that the long tail concept fits very well with the customers in charge environment. Customers choose the product they want even if it's completely out-dated. The Long Tail concept also allows to the web-site owners to understand better customer's needs and wishes and to identify very well niches in order to offer best services.
For reinforcing my opinion that the concept fits with customer in charge environment, I choose the itunes example.

Itunes gives possibility to people to buy content. Customers can buy their favorite song without buying the album. They can buy where and when they want and in the quantity they wish to. Itunes also analyzed your purchases and send you propositions.
